Job Description


The Tax Analyst, Corporate Taxes will be responsible for all aspects of income tax compliance.  This will include Income Tax Return preparation and all related processes, some of which include; installment payment monitoring, the related accounting, calculating and reconciling corporate income tax provision entries in addition to current and future income tax balance sheet accounts. The position assists with the identification, implementation and ongoing management of tax planning opportunities and initiatives.



  • Prepare various Canadian corporate income tax returns, partnership returns and elections.

  • Identify opportunities for income tax savings.

  • Review the tax perspective in the economic model.

  • Calculate and provide technical expertise and prepare tax provisions for the financial statements.

  • Prepare year-end working papers and analysis as required for auditors at year-end.

  • Calculate and remit appropriate income tax and capital tax installments and review the tax assessments received from the taxation authorities.

  • Coordinate information requested by the CRA or other taxation authorities during income tax, GST, PST and SRED audits.

  • Analyze and assist in the appropriate calculation of tax for budgeting and forecasting activities.

  • Provide Corporate Reporting with tax information required for monthly and semi-annual UK reporting.

  • Participate in the company’s SRED filings and appropriate documentation.

  • Develop company specific knowledge and the ability to analyze complex transactions to accurately reflect appropriate tax treatment and future income taxes.

  • Interact with Business Units and assist in responding to their specific tax questions in the areas of income taxes and sales taxes.

  • Ensure capital projects are tracked appropriately and adequate asset schedules and reconciliations are prepared for the preparation of the tax returns.

  • Consult with various external parties as appropriate.

  • May perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong working knowledge of tax legislation

  • Strong financial accounting and analytical skills

  • Proficient in the use of Computer Software applications, especially Microsoft Office and Tax Prep is an asset.



    QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Essential Work Experience):

  • University degree in Accounting/Commerce or a related discipline.

  • Professional Accountant with 4-6 years’ experience (at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in tax)

  • Desire to complete the CICA In-Depth Income Tax Course.
