Our partner exists to support juvenile prisoners, the majority who are male, who have become lost within and are now in conflict with the justice system of Zambia.
The organisation organises activities for the boys including educational and sporting activities throughout the week. They also provide legal representation and match them to pro bono lawyers who monitor their cases, provide legal guidance and representation and secure court dates.
You will be the first AfID volunteer supporting this organisation. You will help them to set up a basic financial framework to manage and track their finances and comply with donor requirements. They would like a system that can be easily used and understood by their local volunteers until funding is available to hire a part-time or full-time bookkeeper/accountant.
They would also like support and training in financial planning.
The partner is able to cover the cost of a standard business visa (30 days) and may also be able to provide a homestay.
Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Zambia, will incur a placement fee as per the AfID Volunteer Programme. Click for more information on AfID's fee structure.
