Temporary Municipal Accountants (Up to 12 months)
The City of Medicine Hat’s Finance Department is searching for highly skilled, adaptable and multi-tasking Municipal Accountants to join a dynamic team of professionals in providing high quality accounting services to the Municipal Service business units. We develop great people, and part of your role would be to assist in mentoring while providing technical expertise to the entire Finance Accounting group and the departments we serve.
As a member of the team, your responsibilities include providing accurate and timely financial and management reports, interpreting financial information to facilitate decision making, and participation in the budget process. One must provide budget assistance to the assigned business units and prepare divisional and consolidated financial statements while assisting in the development and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal controls.
A university degree in business and a professional accounting designation (C.P.A.);
Four (4) years accounting experience;
Experience in a government accounting environment with thorough knowledge of PSAB and IFRS considered an asset;
An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
