Our partner is a child rights and community development organisation working to end child suffering and poverty in northern Ghana.
In order to make a real and lasting change they work on a large scale with all levels of society across a range of sectors and issues. They currently run 22 programmes and 2 social enterprises addressing health, education and child protection. As part of this, they have set up a hospital which has become a key medical facility in the area however it is facing several financial and accounting challenges.
They have requested the support of an AfID volunteer to provide financial support to help keep the hospital running and managerial support to improve and develop its systems. Your role will involve helping to implement the recommendations of a previous audit and helping to improve finance processes.
You will also update the finance manual; introduce best practice procurement process and a payroll software. You will provide support to the bookkeeper to build their capacity and enable them to continue the use of the process implemented.
The partner will be able to cover the costs of your flights, visa, accommodation and provide a small stipend of £100 for your living costs.
Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Ghana, will incur a placement fee as per the AfID Volunteer Programme. Click for more information on AfID's fee structure.
