* Professional Accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA)

 

* 9-12 years’ experience in a progressively more responsible financial management capacity with specific experience in project forecasting, analysis, and internal controls

 

* Strong knowledge and understanding of project management operations and business decision processes of a large, complex organization

 

* Sound experience with the application of computer systems applications to financial operations, reporting and control, capital plans, and operating budgets

 

* In-depth knowledge of accounting practices and principles and effective internal control concepts and their effective application

 

* Experience in project forecasting is highly desirable Additional Information:

 

  • Previous construction management experience an asset

 

  • Knowledge of SAP, Bex, PPM and Passport an asset

 

  • Supports the project in the adherence to Financial Policy and associated internal control frameworks

 

  • Support the on-going development of a team-oriented culture within Finance and across BC Hydro

 

  • Ability to think and act with a strong business sense.

 

  • Travel to site required

Job Description

Site C will be the third dam and hydroelectric generating station on the Peace River in northeast B.C. The project will provide 1,100 megawatts (MW) of capacity and about 5,100 gigawatt hours (GWh) of energy each year to the province’s integrated electricity system. Project components include an earth fill dam, diversion tunnel, generating station, spillway and associated structures, an 83-kilometre-long reservoir, re-alignment of six sections of Highway 29, and two 77-kilometer transmission lines along an existing right-of-way connecting Site C to Peace Canyon. The $8.3 billion project is estimated to be complete by 2024, and will use 10,000 person-years of direct construction labour.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Provide support to senior managers for construction and other related areas

 

  • Provide strategic business advice and financial decision support to the business, development and review of actual results against plan and assist in the creation and update of accurate and realistic monthly and to-completion forecasts

 

  • Support the development of the plans, business targets and budget, develop performance monitoring tools, lead the collection and analysis of information, measure performance to objectives and make recommendations and initiate actions in order to maximize results

 

  • Provides support for the Business Services Manager as required

 

  • Supports the project in the adherence to Financial Policy and associated internal control frameworks

 

  • Support the on-going development of a team-oriented culture within Finance and across BC Hydro

 

  • Ability to think and act with a strong business sense
