Senior Accountant

Position Summary

This position provides senior level support in the day-to-day general accounting and treasury functions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate professional maturity with a "can-do" spirit. Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Analysis of data and research for recording accounting transactions
  • Assist with month-end close procedures including preparation of reconciliations
  • Review monthly capital accounts and prepare project reports
  • Review and approve standard journal entries
  • Liaise with business unit representatives to ensure accuracy of accounting and reporting
  • Provide additional support for the accounts payable function

Reporting:

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Review and analysis of financial reports
  • Develop and maintain financial reports within the financial reporting system (One Stop Reporting – OSR)

Treasury:

  • Prepare monthly cash forecast
  • Prepare quarterly bank compliance reports

General:

  • Assist with IT accounting software maintenance
  • Prepare corporate income tax and withholding tax filings
  • Assist with the department’s internal control development, monitoring and reporting
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit
  • Various special projects and assignments


Education and Experience Required

  • Possess an accounting designation with minimum work experience at a senior-level for 4-6 years in an accounting department of a mid-sized organization

  • English language proficiency with written and spoken clarity
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, notably Excel
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains and One Stop Reporting software would be considered an asset
