Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Manager Corporate Reporting will lead a group of four professional accountants in the preparation of high quality financial reporting documentation for disclosure, in compliance with requirements, on a timely basis. This position will also be accountable for preparing and presenting consolidated variance analyses to senior management.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee monthly close and consolidation, including completion of tax accounting routines, quarterly preparation of external consolidated financial reports of CP on forms 10-K/10-Q, and periodic preparation of financial statements for non-public CP entities;

  • Coordinate processes and scheduling with internal stakeholders, contributors and external auditors;

  • Coach and control quality of work of four direct reports;

  • Identifies and supports process improvement within Corporate Reporting and monitors existing process to ensure continuous improvement;

  • Establish and monitor documentation standards for the reporting team;

  • Ensure processes comply with applicable internal control (SOX) requirements;

  • Recommend reporting solutions addressing significant financial transactions and track their timely implementation;

  • Consolidate variance analyses prepared under a functional basis into a natural basis for monthly presentation to senior management;

  • Combine variance analyses into waterfalls for presentation to senior management and audit committee on a quarterly basis;

  • As needed, prepare financial statements or other reports and execute work in special projects.

 

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Accounting Designation required (CPA; CPA, CA);

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience;

  • Management and leadership skills including coaching, motivating, team building, implementing change, process reviews and improvement;

  • Knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements applicable to public companies (US GAAP experience, desirable);

  • ERP/SAP knowledge (desirable);

  • Application Expertise (desirable): Workiva, BPC, Excel;

  • Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy;

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and lead team in a fast-paced environment;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
