Senior Finance Accountant



Company Information

Araam is proud of its almost 15 year history of being a made-in Canada manufacturer of sleep products (primarily mattresses and foundations, e.g. box springs). We serve the mid-high end retail and commercial bedding industry. Our manufacturing plant is centralized in Edmonton, with regional/provincial independent sales representatives serving our retailer and commercial accounts throughout Canada. Araam has plans to expand both its product line and distribution. In order to do so, it needs to improve the standardization of its operational processes, including finance and accounting. Araam uses an industry recognized MRP (with a recent significant upgrade), and has set as a high priority for this position, both in its own performance and in the leadership with the small finance and accounting team, to make significant improvements in the computerization of their daily work flow and activities. In addition, Araam’s job costing needs to be more systematic and measured.

Job Description

The Senior Financial Accountant is directly involved, and manages and directs the accounting staff with departmental responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, manufacturing and operational productivity and variance analysis, payroll, commission and royalty payments, full accounting services, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures, financial and tax reporting (Canada & USA), reconciling account balances and bank statements.  The Senior Financial Accountant is expected to combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts, financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned.
