The Department of Energy's Compliance and Assurance Edmonton branch is looking for enthusiastic, goal orientated and knowledgeable individuals to join our team to help ensure the accuracy of royalty related information submitted to the Crown from industry. Here is your chance to make a difference!
The Compliance and Assurance branch has opportunity for two individuals to join our team in Edmonton. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing audit assurance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of Crown Royalties through auditing industry submissions used to calculate non-renewable resource revenues.
You will be challenged to meet deadlines and to demonstrate creativity and innovation in identifying audit efficiencies and by adapting to changing environments in both the oil and gas industry and the Department's royalty programs.
Operating within a framework of established audit guidelines and directives, under the direction of the Senior Auditor you will assist in gathering data and executing the audit plan. You will apply your interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills being responsible for preparing electronic audit working papers and other documentation, utilizing Teammate auditing software, to support audit results and communicating findings to the audit client.
The ideal candidate for this opportunity will possess demonstrated creative problem solving skills coupled with innovative and strategic thinking skills and the ability to analyze highly technical information. Experience with compiling filings required by the Department of Energy is highly valued. The ability to build collaborative environments by establishing positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously in support of branch objectives is key to demonstrate agility.
Salary: $2,360.34 - $3,241.54 bi-weekly (~$61,604 - $84,604 per year). Closing Date: May 3, 2017. Job ID #1041825
Qualifications: A University degree in accounting, business, finance or related field along with a minimum of 2 years of related experience in the oil and gas industry in a royalty accounting or auditing environment is required plus the incumbent must be eligible for enrollment in the CPA accounting program leading to a professional CPA designation. The ideal candidate will have their CPA (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation and 5 or more years of auditing or oil and gas experience. Knowledge of current department policies and procedures relating to oil and gas royalty programs and CAPPA Certification are considered as critical assets. Experience using Teammate and the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint) along with computerized audit software such as IDEA are also considered assets. Proficiency in English; both verbal and written is required.
