Job Description

The Specialist - Accounting role supports the Accounting department by preparing, analyzing and reporting financial results related to various operating units within CP.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Analyze and account for employee compensation and benefit programs;

  • Partner with stakeholders in Human Resources and Labor Relations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results; 

  • Participate and lead improvements as part of a cross-functional improvement team;

  • Analyze monthly results ensuring accuracy and completeness;

  • Reconcile accounts supporting balances for the accounting close;

  • Complete month-end accruals, journal entries and work with business partners to ensure accuracy and completeness;

  • Perform and review analysis of financial data and various accounting issues;

  • Enhance data quality surrounding cross-functional processes and department(s) performance.

 

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or other relevant fields;

  • A professional designation is required;

  • 5-7 years of related work experience;

  • Well-developed knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems, preferably SAP;

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization;

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills;

  • Strong drive and results orientation;

  • Proven ability to execute process improvement and change in a fast paced environment;

  • Willingness to learn and understand Company policies;

  • Strong analytical skills;

  • Proficient in the use of PC’s with intermediate to advanced knowledge of standard business software applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets etc.);

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
