Job Title:                    Senior Financial Accountant

Employee Type:         Term Contract (12 months – June/July  start date)

Reports to:                  Manager, Financial Reporting

Posting Date:              April 27, 2017

Closing Date:              May 8, 2017

Location:                    Calgary, Corporate Office

 

Purpose of Role:

Based in MEG’s Corporate Office in Calgary, this position will contribute to the success of MEG Energy Corp. by providing current, relevant and key financial performance information to internal and external stakeholders at MEG Energy.

 

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual MD&A and quarterly and annual financial statements and notes
  • Provide research and guidance for financial statements and MDA in compliance with IFRS and Canadian regulatory requirements
  • In consultation with the Manager, Financial Reporting and external advisors, determine accounting treatment and disclosure for complex and non-routine transactions
  • Implement and document application of recently-released IFRS standards
  • Support and assist in the month end processing and closing procedures necessary for preparation of financial information

Qualifications:  

  • CA accounting designation supplemented with a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in preparation of financial statements and MD&A for an oil and gas public company
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting standards and disclosure requirements under Canadian IFRS required  
  • Experience with key transitional issues with new accounting standards such as IFRS 9, 15 and 16 is an asset
