Senior Business Analyst

The City of St. Albert has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Financial Services department. In this role, you will ensure the provision of sound strategic economic and financial analysis through the modeling and simulation of municipal and utility operations.  The Senior Business Analyst develops, enhances and maintains revenue and expense applications, models, templates, tools, databases and related business processes used to forecast capital and operating requirements.

The Senior Business Analyst reports directly to the Director of Financial Services, and is responsible for the development, delivery, and continual enhancement of many of the branch’s information management tools. This position is accountable for developing, monitoring, and maintaining policies, processes, and guidelines associated with the department’s information management tools. This can also include working with a Business Analyst in the development of comprehensive forecasting and modeling frameworks.

In addition to developing and enhancing the Department’s information management tools, the Senior Business Analyst will provide leadership and direction in the economic analysis of policies and programs, through ad hoc analysis and assessment of the economic costs and impacts of City activities. The Senior Business Analyst designs, plans and supervises economic research, operational analysis and information management conducted within the departments to achieve these goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

An undergraduate degree or diploma in economics, business, accounting, or science related field.

Postgraduate degree in related discipline (M.Sc. Economics or MBA) or a professional accounting or finance designation (CPA, CFA) is an asset.

A minimum of 10 years of related work experience.

Significant experience in economic and operational modeling, simulation and analysis.

Experience in the review and interpretation of financial statements that have a high degree of complexity.

A solid understanding of municipal or business operations with large information systems.

Must possess very strong computer skills including expert knowledge of Excel, Access and other software Visual Basic programming (VBA).

HOURS OF WORK

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

COMPENSATION

$83,041 - $101,033 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package including a defined benefit pension plan.
