Auditor

POSITION SUMMARY

 As a public practice, the auditor will perform independent audits for non-profit and charitable organizations. Working as a team of public practices, the auditor(s) will provide a low cost professional service to not-for-profits in Calgary.  

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Audit Services

  • Plan and perform audits of Federation of Calgary Communities member not-for-profit organizations
  • Perform testing for compliance to regulatory bodies
  • Ensure the completion of audit working papers and audit programs
  • Recommend operational controls and process improvements
  • Determine solutions that add value to client organizations
  • Communicate findings directly to clients
  • Mentoring, coaching and supervision of the audit support staff

 Consultation and Educational Services

  • Plan, develop, implement (or ensure implementation) and evaluate relevant workshops and seminars on financial management, fund raising and grants acquisition
  • Recruit, screen, train and evaluate any resources required for workshops or seminars
  • Write articles of interest and value to not-for-profit
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency in Caseware, Caseview, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Simply Accounting, Quickbooks and other off the shelf accounting programs an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and  time management skills
  • Experience in public speaking and group facilitation
  • Ability to work effectively independently, or as part of a team and able to build positive working relationships

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Recognized accounting designation required
  • Completion of ICAA PARC course
  • Ability and willingness to establish  a practice public accounting firm and audit under the Regulated Accounting Profession Act
  • Not-for-profit and/or charity audit experience

 HOURS OF WORK

  • 40 hours per week with some evening and weekend work
  • Compressed work week  available, with flexible hours
  • Overtime during some peak is expected
