General Supervisor, Fare Strategy and Program Management

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), Business Integration is looking for a dynamic individual who works best in a fast paced, highly integrated and collaborative environment. Business Integration is a central service unit for Edmonton Transit Service, providing service and support in areas such as strategic planning, budget and financials, performance measures, continuous improvement, customer feedback, fare policy and programs, and fare product distribution.

Working in an integrated business model, the General Supervisor, Fare Strategy and Program Management is accountable for leadership and oversight of the Edmonton Transit Service Customer Programs and revenue initiatives, development of fare policy, and fare product distribution services. The General Supervisor will:

  • Oversee fare and non-fare programs, fare policy and revenue, and customer data and feedback 
  • Lead teams that manage and administer Fare Distribution, Fare & Non-Fare Edmonton Transit Service Programs and Revenue & associated contract management
  • Ensure the performance measurement system (i.e. key performance indicators) is established, monitored, and that timely corrective actions are taken to ensure the efficient delivery of service
  • Provide management, controls and oversight of cash and cash-like instruments 
  • Develop recommendations related to fare strategies, policy and pricing; supporting annual ridership of 90 million trips per year
  • Manage the sales, ridership and revenue operating results and budgets
  • Coordinate, oversee and report on revenue based contracts for the branch 
  • Demonstrate a high level of service for complex and politically sensitive customer inquiries and issues
  • Monitor and manage risk to the Branch, the Department and to the City
  • Build strong relationships across the Department and other areas of the City to ensure alignment, and support for the integrated business model

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Commerce, Engineering, Public Administration or a related discipline
  • Post-graduate education, certification or coursework in strategic planning, financial management, public administration, project management, innovation and continuous improvement, performance measures and analytics, change management, or other leadership training would be an asset
  • A MBA or a professional accountant designation would be considered an asset
  • A minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in a leadership role within a large, complex organization
  • Experience in treasury management and asset control
  • Proven track record in financial management, business planning and continuous improvement
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams accountable for large, politically sensitive and complex projects and processes
  • Experience in labour relations including working with Unions, management and employees towards recognizing and resolving workforce issues
  • Proven program/business planning and organizational skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills with experience in solving complex and sensitive Issues
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to Interact well with a diverse group of executives, colleagues, staff and citizens
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, including report writing and presentations to all levels of management
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
  • Human Resources including recruitment, coaching, performance development and management, and conflict resolution
