Job Description

 

 Crescent Point is currently seeking to fill the following position:

 

Job Title:          Senior Tax Analyst

Location:          Calgary, Alberta

Reports to:       Director, Tax


The following will provide you with basic guidelines as to the duties required of this position.

 

Purpose:

The Senior Tax Analyst is an integral member of the Crescent Point tax team and will work collaboratively with the team to complete tax compliance, tax financial reporting and other tax related responsibilities.  This role will require emphasis on detailed accounting analysis and review of complex transactions.

 

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Prepare Canadian income tax returns and elections, including T106 and T1134 filings.  This will include preparing legal entity financial statements and comprehensive accounting analysis of financial statement transactions
  • Review notices of assessments and perform analysis of any discrepancies
  • Prepare quarterly deferred tax provisions, including note and MD&A disclosure
  • Assist with tax authority audits which will include examination of historical files and issues as well as preparation of detailed written responses
  • Assist with various activities related to acquisitions and reorganizations, including analyzing the corporate history and preparing related tax compliance
  • Assist with tax research and analysis, including monitoring changes in tax legislation and determining their impact on the corporation
  • Assisting with other tax responsibilities related to our Canadian and U.S. entities including preparing transfer pricing documentation, forecasting & modelling, maintaining foreign affiliate surplus and ACB calculations, preparing tax working papers for U.S. tax compliance, and preparing other tax compliance filings

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Related post-secondary education with a CPA designation is required
  • Completion of CPA In-depth Tax Courses would be an asset
  • Minimum 10-15 years post qualification experience working in oil and gas accounting/financial reporting/corporate tax
  • Experience working with accounting guidelines, financial statements and accounting systems is required
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills are required with proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Qbyte FM and Essbase would be an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • Highly motivated individual who shows initiative and is focused on achieving results
  • Well organized, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines and is committed to providing accurate and timely deliverables
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
