Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller and in keeping with Covenant Care’s Mission, Vision and Values, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of monthly and annual financial statements and schedules, accounting reconciliations, the preparation of journal entries, providing assistance on special projects, and assisting in the year-end external audit. The Corporate Accountant is also responsible for assisting with various financial analyses and reporting for Covenant Living.

• Accounting diploma or degree (Commerce/Business) required
• Accounting designation CA/CMA/CGA is preferred
• Minimum Two (2) – Three(3) years in accounting setting required
• Experience in account reconciliation, financial statement preparation and presentation is required
• Through working knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) required; A willingness and ability to acquire additional software skills as required
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information required
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills required
• Work within a team-oriented approach to tasks, and ability to respond and communicate with all levels of staff required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains financial system preferred
• Experience in year-end audit preparation preferred
• Experience in a medium to large not-for-profit or charity environment or health care sector is an asset
• Ability to distinguish independent decisions from decisions that should be referred upward is essential
