Job Description

As the Internal Audit Business Data Analyst at the Alberta Motor Association (AMA), you will significantly expand and maintain a program of continuous auditing within AMA and its subsidiaries.  In addition to identifying and developing data analytic routines to support audit activities performed by the internal audit team, you will ensure successful completion of assigned continuous auditing engagements, including project management of each audit.  You will provide independent and objective assurance and consulting activities designed to improve AMA’s operations.  You are a researcher and stay current on emerging tools and methodologies related to innovative and creative linking of data sets.  You’re the real deal!  This role will be located in Edmonton.

 What you’ll do

  • Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, you will establish and maintain a robust continuous auditing program by collaborating with and supporting business unit auditors.

  • You will run continuous auditing tests, evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, identify and document control and process weaknesses, and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.

  • Assist auditors with preparing concise and informative audit reports and participate in audit closing meetings with business leaders.

  • Provide input into the annual and 3-year audit plan to achieve internal audit’s mandate and meet professional internal auditing standards.

  • Provide consultative services to management to contribute to the safeguarding of AMA assets and business interests.

 What you’ve done

  • You have a post-secondary degree in business, computer science or management information systems.  If your degree is in something else, tell us how it relates to this role.

  • Enrollment in one of the following programs: CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE or equivalent.

  • You have a minimum of three years’ data analysis experience in audit, finance or risk management.

  • Strong working knowledge of ACL, SQL and Excel.

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of internal auditing standards.

  • You have experience building and supporting continuous auditing programs and ideally you’ve worked in the financial services sector.
