Job Description

We are looking for an Accountant, Banking Operations to join our Finance department in the Corporate Head Office as part of the Banking Operations team.  This dynamic group works in a fun, fast-paced, deadline oriented environment and is seeking someone who thrives on change, accuracy, and gaining a meaningful understanding of accounts and variances with a desire to understand why.  This is an opportunity for an intermediate accountant to provide meaningful insight into investigations and analytical reporting focused on the Banking business line.

  • Preparing journal entries and uploading banking system data into the general ledger.

  • Investigating variances and providing insight to various levels of leadership.

  • Preparing monthly analysis of monthly, quarterly and year-to-date net interest margin results.

  • Execution of the Weekly Executive Report, ensuring its timely release.

  • Filing journal vouchers and maintaining accurate files.

  • Preparing and entering journal vouchers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 

  • Preparing graphs, charts and variance investigations for use in monthly reporting.

  • Continually improving efficiencies in daily operation activities, variance investigations and report preparation.

Your accomplishments:

  • An Accounting Degree or Diploma.

  • About 3 years of related work or industry experience, Banking industry experience an asset.

  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills, with an emphasis on Excel.

Your competencies:

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team environment while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, responsiveness and insight in all areas of work.

  • Aptitude for accuracy, analysis and problem solving with strong attention to detail.

  • Strong aptitude for the analysis of financial data with a focus on cost accounting.

  • Ability and desire to ‘Think Outside the Box’.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable communicating with all levels throughout the organization.
