Job Summary:
The Deputy Regional Accounting Manager plans, organizes, and manages the delivery of accounting services and programs. She or he provides advice and interpretation on Non Public Funds (NPF) accounting and Non Public Property (NPP) administrative policies to managers and senior military officers. She or he notifies and reports any unusual trends/activities to senior managers for further investigations She or he recommends revisions to existing policy, programs and procedures in order to address changing needs. She or he provides assistance with policies, directives and standard operating procedures writing. Ensure adherence to policies and directives within NPF operations. She or he advises and solicits input from other NPF Divisions and local Base/Wing/Unit (B/W/U) authorities on ongoing interpretation problems. She or he acts as NPP Comptroller at B/W/U level. She or he provides assistance and training to senior NPF Managers, NPP entity managers and senior military officers on accounting/finance related topics/programs. She or he provides accounting control over NPP assets and liabilities. She or he interprets operating results for NPP entities and make specific recommendations designed to adapt to potential adverse trends or changes in NPP operations. She or he will manage a team in the Edmonton accounting office and will support in collaboration with the regional manager, accounting offices in Cold Lake and Moose Jaw.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field AND some years of experience in accounting or in a related field
OR
College diploma or certificate in Finance, Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field AND several years of experience in accounting, or in a related field
AND
Accounting designation such as Certified General Accountant (CGA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Accountant (CA), an asset
Language Requirement: English Essential
