Capital Asset Accountant

The City of St. Albert’s Financial Services department is seeking to fill a term assignment. Reporting to the Divisional Controller, the Capital Asset Accountant is responsible for providing financial reporting and analysis and accounting services for capital projects for all City departments. The Capital Asset Accountant will also support the accounting of Tangible Capital Assets, including the preparation of annual financial statements and related analysis. The position also prepares other municipal reporting in accordance with legislative requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate will have an undergraduate degree or diploma in Business with a major in Accounting, and/or working towards an accounting designation. Other educational equivalencies or experience will be considered. Successful candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years experience with a solid understanding of municipal and/or business operations relating to capital assets and large information systems. Experience in a municipal government will be an asset.

The job requires extensive experience in the preparation and presentation of year end financial statements, review procedures for financial statements and working papers, fund accounting GAAP, PSAB and GST.

HOURS OF WORK

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

SALARY

$72,793 - $88,563 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.

TERM

This is a term position covering a leave. The term is from July 2017 up to April 2018, subject to early return of the incumbent on leave.
