Alberta Treasury Board and Finance, Edmonton. Responsible for Financial Planning, Financial Operations, Financial Reporting & Compliance and Investment & Debt Accounting, providing a range of advisory and financial accounting services to the Ministry and pension plan boards.

Are you a designated professional accountant with experience in public practice and investments? Do you have strong leadership and supervisory skills? Does the idea of reporting on the government's investment and debt portfolios intrigue you? If so, look no further.

Reporting to the Director, Investment and Debt Accounting Group, this position provides expertise and leadership in the coordination and support of financial reporting for regulated funds, pension plans and the department. As a supervisory manager, you will lead a team of dynamic professional accountants and analysts. Your previous public practice experience will enable you to lead and review the preparation and analysis of working papers and financial statements of investment funds amounting to over $90 billion, and a debt portfolio of over $50 billion. Utilizing your CPA Handbook and investment knowledge and experience, you will lead your team in the preparation of high quality, detailed working paper files and financial statements.

As the Manager, you must be able to work effectively with other groups within Treasury Board and Finance, as well as other ministries within the Government of Alberta. You will liaise directly with the Office of the Auditor General, and collaborate with Treasury and Risk Management, Office of the Controller, and Alberta Investment Management Corporation on matters of accounting policy, compliance and financial statement requirements. 

Salary: $3,062.51 - $4,121.25 bi-weekly ($79,932 - $107,565 annually). Closing Date: July 13, 2017. Job ID #1043314 

Qualifications: This position requires a professional accounting designation (CPA, or legacy designations CA, CMA or CGA) along with a related degree in Commerce or Business Administration and three or more years of related experience. 

- Management experience in financial accounting and financial statement reporting (particularly in relation to highly complex investments) is required. 

- Knowledge of GAAP, CICA Handbook (including PSAB pronouncements), and IFRS is required; an emphasis on accounting and disclosure requirements related to financial instruments and debt would be considered an asset. 

- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, IMAGIS (PeopleSoft) and large financial and investment systems are necessary. 

-Experience with investment products, investment systems and pension accounting would be considered an asset.
