Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer
The Vice President Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer (VPCS & CFO) is responsible for implementing the Olds College Vision, Mission, Mandate and Comprehensive Institutional Plan. As the College’s senior representative responsible for will business, financial and operational services, specific student services, human resources and technology, the VPCS & CFO will drive optimal operational performance and support and implement effective planning. The VPCS & CFO will also lead the management and development and implementation of processes and practices to ensure the integrity of all financial and operational activities of the college and affect strong decision making in regard to college resources.
A primary focus of the VPCS & CFO will be on campus planning & renewal and facilitating the College’s strategic initiatives by enabling, enhancing and prioritizing College infrastructure, systems, resources and capabilities. All activity of the VPCS & CFO will be conducted in accordance with legislated requirements, professional standards and College policies and procedures.
Some key accountabilities include providing:
- Leadership, management and guidance in College-wide planning and processes for budget and financial planning, business services, contracts and commitments, risk management. As well a leadership for facilities, infrastructure and technology planning and development to serve the mission, vision and outcomes of the College;
- Leadership to human resources toward a people development mindset for the benefit of the College and its faculty and staff;
- Oversight to accounting and financial services including the preparation and reporting of financial information, ensuring that the respective documentation is generated for audit purposes and that the College systems have adequate controls to effectively manage public funds;
- And facilitating the ongoing maintenance of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS); through compliance, ensure that strong internal controls are in place to produce accurate financial information and to abide by federal, provincial, and local regulatory laws and rules.
Requirements for the position include at least a Master’s Degree in a related field in combination with a professional accounting designation. In concert with education, the ideal candidate will hold Eight to Fifteen years of successful experience at a senior administrative level. Related experience within a post-secondary environment will be considered and asset. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of governance, the role of the CFO and the role of the community college. Additional requirements include, excellent written and verbal communication, business case development, marketing, and public relations skills. Advanced abilities in policy development, change management, analysis and assessment of educational, employee development and resource allocation systems are also required.
