The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is the first of its kind: a visionary, holistic approach to delivering health care to British Columbia’s First Nations communities. Founded in 2013, the FNHA gave First Nations in British Columbia a direct say in how health services are provided in their communities, reflecting the unique health service needs of First Nations and creating a more effective and culturally-responsive health service system. With a budget over $430 million, the organization has a unique governance model comprised of BC First Nations, the Province of BC and Health Canada. Its nearly 600 staff are located in multiple offices in Vancouver, North Vancouver, and in regional offices based out of BC’s five health service regions: Northern, Interior, Vancouver Island, Fraser Salish, and Vancouver Coastal.

FNHA is now entering an exciting time in its history as it seeks to build upon the work of the past four years that have built the foundational programs, processes and systems that have allowed the organization to deliver on the health transfer agreement. As FNHA seeks to deliver on its mission to provide the best health care that reflects the needs and traditions of the First Nations Communities in BC, the organization is now seeking a new CFO & VP, Corporate Services to take on a critical portfolio and to help lead the organization to the next level: to truly transform the way health care and wellness are delivered to First Nations Communities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and overseeing a team of 57, the CFO & VP, Corporate Services guides the FNHA in financial matters and provides fiscal and corporate services leadership that contributes to the achievement of the FNHA’s overall mission. Specific areas of responsibility include finance and accounting, risk management, capital assets, fleet, travel and accommodations, business continuity planning, and contract and procurement management.  

The successful candidate will bring an accounting designation coupled with experience leading a large, diverse accounting and corporate services team in a complex public-sector organization.  Experience with and knowledge of British Columbia’s First Nations is a tremendous asset. The CFO & VP, Corporate Services will bring tremendous organizational and team leadership skills. He/she must be a visionary and strategic leader capable of working across an organization to influence and build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
