Our partner works to promote the inclusion of those with intellectual disabilities in society and in employment though education, specifically surrounding the environment.
The organisation works with young adults with learning disabilities. They partner with universities in Buenos Aires to deliver a 4- year programme for students whereby they spend 2 years in an education programme studying about the environment and 2 years in the work programme where they put their knowledge to use in the field, volunteering or working in villas (slums) and NGOs and delivering training to offices. They work with around 50 students a year who are then able to go on and do great work for the environment.
You will be the second AfID volunteer to support this partner. The first volunteer helped to build the capacity of local staff generally and assist with complications around Argentine legislation, internal and donor reporting. The placement was very successful and they have used the finance manual created by our volunteer to assist with training new staff.
It has been over 2 years since the placement so you will carry out an assessment of their systems, process and controls before making and implementing recommendations for best practise. They would also like support with reporting and providing tailored training to new members of staff.
Please note, Spanish is required for this placement.
Our partner will be able to recommend accommodation to suit your preferences and budget.
Please note that overseas assignments, in this case in Argentina, will incur a placement fee as per the AfID Volunteer Programme fee scale.
