Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions and associated note disclosures
  • Prepare and ensure compliance for all Canadian corporate tax returns
  • Prepare and ensure compliance for all U.S. corporate tax returns – federal and state
  • Prepare scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) claims
  • Coordinate external Canada Revenue Agency audits and internal cost recovery audits
  • Maintain compliance with tax regulations by reviewing and implementing new or revised laws
  • Prepare other various tax filings: tax instalment payments, annual reports, indirect and commodity taxes
  • Carbon tax administration and filing
  • Accounting support of sustainability reporting
  • Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) compliance
  • Oversight of property tax cycle
  • Oversight of monthly GST filings
  • Provide tax support, forecasting and other planning activities as needed
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Accounting designation - CA preferred
  • Five years of Canadian upstream oil and gas industry experience
  • Minimum of three years of relevant tax and compliance experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Technically strong, particularly with Canadian oil and gas and cross-border tax issues
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to successfully work with multiple deadlines in a changing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets


  • Full time with some overtime typically experienced during quarterly reporting and tax compliance cycles
