Job Description

Stantec’s external reporting team provides services related to external financial reporting and regulatory filings in Canada and the US. The team’s expertise ensures the financial reporting is in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements.


Your Duties:

Reporting to the Director, External Reporting, the successful candidate’s responsibility includes:


  • Prepare of regulatory filing documents in particular write the quarterly and annual Management Discussion and Analysis and co-ordinate the Annual Report process. This would involve collaboration with senior leadership and other financial services and corporate staff;
  • Prepare and analyze financial trends for discussion with senior leadership and Investor Relations;
  • Research and prepare position papers with recommendations on the IFRS impact on accounting issues and new IFRSs;
  • Prepare interim and year-end IFRS financial statement note disclosure requirements;
  • Assist in the preparation of various information for the audit committee; and
  • Project manage, lead, or participate in special projects related to financial reporting or regulatory filings that may arise from time to time.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

A professional accounting designation with a minimum of 10 years experience and 3 to 5 years of  relevant experience in external financial reporting in this capacity. The candidate must have excellent communication skills – both written and oral- and an aptitude for IFRS. A working knowledge and experience with Canadian and US regulatory filings would be an asset. Applicants should demonstrate good research and analytical skills. Candidates must be a self-starter and be able to work independently or with a team that may include all levels of staff and management.
