Financial Controller

About the Position:  This flexible 0.75 FTE Senior Management position reports to the Executive Team and provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization as it relates to contract revenues, budget management, and the supervision of accounting and payroll staff. The Financial Controller is responsible for producing monthly financials, program reports monitoring cash flow, donation income and property assets. This position is directly engaged in the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting, budget development, cost benefit analysis, cash flow projections and auditing activities for the organization including annual budgets and quarterly highlights to the Board of Directors.  The Financial Controller ensures proper adherence of all accounting systems and functions, as well as the development of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.  The Financial Controller will liaise and manage all vendors and contracts associated with the organization’s business.

You possess exceptional communication skills, are competent in working in a team setting and can develop your staff professionally. You demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and are results-oriented. A Degree in Accounting (CA, CMA or equivalent) is required. The successful candidate must have previous experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent, coupled with a good understanding of the not for profit sector. Experience in a senior financial management role is an asset. In addition, the candidate should have considerable expertise in use of accounting software programs, preferably in Adagio accounting and payroll systems. A Police Information Check and a Child Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire. Compensation is based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge and education.
