Olds College first opened its doors on November 21, 1913, then named the Olds School of Agriculture and Home Economics. Students studied field husbandry, farm mechanics and domestic science, emphasized hands-on training and learning the most up to date techniques. Program areas were divided along traditional gender roles, with women learning sewing, cooking and home care and men focusing on farm, business and agricultural courses.

Job Description

As part of the Olds College Leadership team, the Director, Finance & Planning provides leadership and coordination for financial management, institutional planning, budgeting, risk management, systems & analysis aspects of the college. The director leads the creation and delivery of senior level data analysis, reporting and institutional research in aid of planning, budgeting, operational management and decision-making activities along with associated capabilities. The director also plans, designs and conducts major projects and studies, interprets and disseminates results with respect to institutional planning and strategic direction in support of Olds College’s vision & mission. The director brings a systems perspective with the responsibility for designing and implementing system solutions for complex and campus-wide data management operations along with  managing data integrity and privacy compliance, and leading the development of data management applications.

The director leads the business services team in the delivery of effective financial services, financial statements, audit management, internal controls and accounting operations. 
The position interacts with a broad range of Olds College staff and faculty including the Executive Leadership Team, Deans and Directors.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in Economics, IT, Business, Finance or a related discipline in combination with a current Professional Accounting designation.  This will be combined with five to seven years of related experience including the implementation of BPI projects, dashboards, data warehouses, and data integration from multiple systems.  Prior experience implementing an Enterprise Planning System and business intelligence and data analytic systems will be considered a significant asset.
