Fixed Asset Accountant

Summary of Position  

The Fixed Asset Accountant is accountable for the accurate tracking and reporting of all capital assets within the consolidated group including: asset acquisitions, dispositions, transfers, depreciation and managing of the AFE process. 

Job Description

  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all asset acquisitions, disposition and transfers

  • Maintain depreciation schedules of all capital assets

  • Recording of all assets acquired under capital leases and accounting for all lease obligation repayments, interest and charges

  • Accurate accounting of inter-company transfers in accordance with the Company’s transfer pricing policy for all asset transfer or sales/purchases within the group

  • Assist in process improvement projects including, but not limited to, revising of Capitalization Policy and annual fixed asset count procedures

  • Maintenance of the Company’s fixed asset sub ledgers with quarterly reconciliation to RTMS reporting

  • Provide analysis and support to Director, Facility Operations & Assets and other Operation personnel as required

  • Assist district managers and liaise with Fleet Management Company in management of leased vehicles

  • Manage and oversee all charges from the providers of vehicle leasing and fleet management

  • Assist Fleet Management company with vehicle registration and insurance documentation

  • Assist in quarterly and annual reporting requirements as required for financial reporting and tax purposes

  • Maintain inventory subledger for Centrifuge Repair Facility and facilitate district monthly and quarterly inventory counts and reconciliations

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

     

Work Experience Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience of which 1-3 years should be with fixed assets

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (Fixed Asset Software)

  • Working knowledge of fixed asset categorization and depreciation

  • Knowledge or experience with asset impairment preferred

  • Experience with IFRS

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detailed


Education Requirements

  • CPA (CMA or CGA) level designation required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance

  • Working towards an accounting designation would be an asset
