Job Description

Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Intermediate Accountant will work closely with the accounting team to complete accounting cycle reporting in addition to working on projects that occur during the month. The role will be integral to ensuring both closing and reporting are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

Specific Accountabilities

Leadership

  • Support a culture that encompasses the highest ethical standards aligned with the Company’s core values;

Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly continuity schedules for balance sheet accounts, reconcile to G/L and investigate any unusual items;
  • Prepare/analyze monthly continuity schedules for balance sheet accounts, reconcile to G/L and investigate any unusual items;
  • Prepare/Post journal entries as required;
  • Prepare/review WIP calculation and supporting schedules;
  • Reconcile various asset and liability accounts through continuity schedules; follow up on issues/unreconciled balances (i.e.: accrued liabilities, etc.);
  • Manage intercompany schedules, transfers and eliminations and coordinate posting of affected A/P and A/R with operations;
  • Assist in consolidation of budget and forecast templates;
  • Assist in analyzing monthly financial statements through preparation of various schedules required by parent company;
  • Prepare/analyze various reports for Management
  • Support in preparation of monthly/quarterly financial reporting schedules;
  • Contribute to preparation of IFRS note workbook;
  • Assist in preparation of year-end audit working papers;
  • Provide support to all internal and external customers;
  • Ad-Hoc reporting as required; and
  • Provide back-up to Manager of Finance.

Stuart Olson Corporate

  • Support and participate in corporate initiatives as requested.

Position Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience of increasing responsibility in accounting;
  • Working towards a professional accounting designation;
  • Advanced Excel knowledge;
  • SAP knowledge helpful but not required;
  • Confidence in analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Highest standard of professional ethics including integrity and honesty;
  • Must be a team player;
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines;
  • Must possess excellent time management skills and have the ability to multi-task;
  • High degree of initiative and willingness for change;
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities; and
  • Provide back-up to Manager of Finance.
