This role is tasked with ensuring emerging issues are addressed in a timely fashion, researching complex accounting treatments as well as leading and coordinating ad hoc projects for Financial Services. This role will also provide additional capacity during the year end and budget cycle and short term coverage for areas within Financial Services.

 

The Manager, Complex Accounting and Projects applies strong technical financial training and expertise to lead the accounting research, new standard implementation, and training development activities within Financial Services and enhance corporate financial effectiveness and compliance through continuous improvement initiatives.

 

This position takes a lead or coordination role in addressing a number of financial initiatives. Work includes completing internal and external research and analysis with respect to new standards, new transactions or complex accounting, drafting recommendations for policy development and coordinating the implementation of new accounting standards, policies and/or directives.

 

In this role, an emphasis is placed on networking and maintaining relationships among various areas within Financial Services, the other divisions of TBF and other entities served by corporate services of Treasury Board and Finance. This position must review the work of others, including a technical review of the work of peers and success in the position is dependent upon building relationships, providing direction, guidance and facilitating discussions.

Salary: $3,062.51 - $4,121.25 bi-weekly ($79,931.51 - $107,564.62 annually).

Qualifications: University Degree majoring in Accounting, Finance or related field, supplemented by a minimum of five years related experience.

 

This position requires a professional accounting designation (CPA, or legacy designations CA, CMA, or CGA).

 

Extensive knowledge of PSAS and writing position papers for complex accounting issues.

Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and project management in a complex public sector environment.

 

Ability to deal with many issues, sometimes time sensitive and provide solutions.

Knowledge of the senior management responsibilities and expectations.

 

Knowledge of large systems applications (PeopleSoft, IMAGIS) and inter-relationships with sub-systems.

 

Strong leadership and human resource management skills including performance improvement, interdisciplinary team building, decision making and individual and group supervision.

 

Equivalencies may be considered.
