Reporting to the Director, Taxation this position will oversee the income tax compliance function for Sobeys Inc (and related legal entities) as well as CRA income tax audit processes.  You will ensure the accurate preparation of T2 returns for all 150 entities and review for accuracy and compliance.  You will provide advice and recommendations to various internal finance teams regarding income tax compliance, particularly with respect to changing business needs and new lines of business and you will remain consistently up to date on evolving taxation legislation relevant to the company.  You will oversee and review deferred tax accounting and customs reporting, estimate and reconcile income tax installments and implement income tax compliance recommendations.  You will also coach and mentor your direct reports by identifying opportunities for training and development and lead by example in your dedication, professionalism and commitment to consistency, accuracy and reliability.

 

A proven team leader and income tax expert, the ideal candidate has a professional accounting designation and a post secondary degree in finance, business or accounting (or equivalent), combined with at least 7 years of experience as an income tax professional within or serving a complex business. Highly detailed and well organized, you are capable of managing multiple projects.  You have a proven track record of creating tax efficiencies and ensuring best practices; substantial knowledge of Canadian income tax legislation (and ideally some knowledge of US tax laws) including customs regulations; will ensure the income tax team performs its accountabilities and consistently generates positive results; will build the confidence and trust of all colleagues and stakeholders with integrity and transparency.  You are highly analytical, detail oriented and able to provide reliable income tax advice and direction to ensure the company is consistently compliant with all income tax obligations.
