We provide services to a wide range of individuals with physical disabilities throughout the province of Alberta. We currently have over 500 members located in all major centres within Alberta. These include Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Calgary, Okotoks, Edmonton, St Albert, Sherwood Park, Wetaskiwin, Ft. McMurray, and Grande Prairie. We cover wheelchair sport programming opportunities for all ages, both Male and Female. Our programs include targeted sports opportunities through one of our five core sports (Wheelchair Basketball, Rugby, Tennis, Athletics, & Sledge Hockey) and entry-level physically active programming through our Bridging The Gap - Getting Physically Active initiative. We offer programs for individuals who live with physical impairments. Some of our athletes live with some of the following impairments:
- Quadraplegia
- Paraplegia
- Amputees
- Polio
- Spina Bifida
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Multiple Sclorosis
- Arthritis
- Cerebral Palsy

We also offer fully integrated programs in select sports were wheelchair athletes will participate along-side able-bodied athletes in the spirit of competition. We offer what we feel are essential services to our members. Our goal is to impact our members lives in a positive manner by allowing them to further develop in sport or recreation specific skills, and life skills. Participation in our programs provides individuals with positive healthy choices and the ability to have social interaction significantly increased in lives that are sometimes isolated and full of barriers.

Job Description

From WSA's bylaws: 

The Executive Committee, subject to the By-laws and direction given it by the Board, shall have full control and responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Association.


1. The Executive shall consist of:

a)              President

b)             Immediate Past President

c)              Vice-President

d)             Secretary

e)             Treasurer

f)               Member-at-Large


Meeting of the Executive shall be held as often as the business of the Association shall require, and at least once every three (3) months, and shall be called by the President.

TREASURER: shall be responsible for the records and assets of the Association. He/she shall prepare, or cause to be prepared, written financial records, reports and/or summaries of the financial activities of the Association as requested or required. He/she shall be responsible for the preparation and submission of duly audited financial statements to the general membership at the Annual General Meeting.

  • Shall prepare, with the Executive Director and approved Auditor, for submission to

the Annual General Meeting a statement of setting forth the financial position of the Association.

  • Shall assist in the completion of filing and reporting of relevant reports to appropriate governing bodies not limited to but including Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and Alberta Sports Connection.
