The Edmonton and District Historical Society (EDHS) is seeking a treasurer. This is a volunteer position. The initial term is for two years. The treasurer is one of three signing officers. The board meets monthly.
The treasurer is the chief financial officer of the society ensuring the financial records of the organization are up-to-date and maintained in accordance with the requirements of CRA, AGLC, and Alberta's societies act. The treasuer chairs the Finance Committee that meets 3-4 times each year.
There are several facets to the role which can be described as weekly, monthly, annually, and ad hoc.
Weekly: Pays bills, makes deposits, files receipts and other paperwork
Monthly: Attends board meetings, provides financial updates, liaisies with financial institutions
Yearly: Arranges for annual review of the society's financial records, presents financial report at the AGM, serves as casino chair, files all required casino documentation and reports
Ad hoc: Chairs finance committee, drafts budget for board approval
Qualfications: Basic accounting and a general interest in the history of Edmonton and area.
Time commitment: 2-4 days per month
