Wood’s Homes is a multi-service, nationally accredited non-profit children’s mental health centre based in Calgary. Today we have over 450 employees and provide more than 40 programs for 28,000 children and their families each year in Calgary, Lethbridge, Canmore, Strathmore, Fort McMurray and Fort Smith, N.W.T.

 

Commitment to high-risk adolescents, challenged with some very tough issues, is not easy and the reality is that most problems surface after hours. These are the times when our frontline workers spring into action. Work hours at Wood’s Homes are typically round-the-clock and the type of work we do requires quick thinking, confidence, forgiveness and persistence.
 

We are currently looking for a Financial Analyst who will be responsible for preparing financial statements, budgeting and the analysis of accounting and financial records to ensure accuracy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

·Ability to work closely with the Manager of Finance.

·Assist the Manager of Finance in developing and carrying out business plans for Finance in support of strategic plans.

·Plan and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information for individuals or departments.

·Review accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports.

·Assist in the development and maintaining reporting and internal control procedures.

·Prepare annual charitable returns.

·Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial advice.

·Prepare monthly and annual working papers.

·Assists in preparation of operating budgets in consultation with Senior Management and Managers.

·Preparing reports to funders.

·Review and reconciliation of accounts.

·Liaise with financial institutions and auditors as required.

·Prepares government reporting schedules.

·Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and the Manager of Finance.
 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

·A degree or diploma in a related field with two to five years of related experience. 

·Completion or near completion of a CA/CGA/CMA designation.

·Several years of hands on full cycle accounting experience. 

·Experience with working papers and preparing month end financial statements.

·Personal suitability is an important consideration.
