Job Description:

Reporting to the President and Owner, the Corporate Controller will be an integral part of the leadership team and responsible for the full cycle accounting of the organization. The successful candidate will work with our Finance Department located at #117 – 8678 Greenall Ave., Burnaby, BC. The location of the Corporate Controller can be in either Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB. This role is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and dynamic organization where you can add value to the business through developing best practice accounting systems and guiding the company’s financial decisions through solid accounting and financial reporting. Leading the Finance/Accounting team, you will be looked upon to motivate, inspire and delegate appropriately.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Provide financial direction for the leadership team decision making process
  • Assist in the preparation of the strategic plan
  • Provide leadership to the accounting team
  • Assist and overview of payroll functions
  • Monitor and review monthly receivables and payment performance
  • Develop & document business processes
  • Ensure appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained
  • Preparation of month end and year-end financial statements
  • Preparation of year-end reconciliations and supporting documents and liaison with external accountants
  • Preparation and oversight of various government filings, including GST and other legislated taxes and assessments
  • Prepare and maintain financial and business performance metrics for reporting purposes
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operation results against forecast/budget, cash flow and other cost -benefit analysis
  • Monthly cash flow management

Skills & Qualifications:

  • CPA designation with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience
  • Ability to manage 3 to 6 direct reports in different locations
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products, specifically Excel
  • Experience with SAP Business One a significant asset
  • Experience with Quick Books an asset
  • Advanced analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships based on trust and integrity
  • Excellent understanding of financial management, accounting principles and internal controls
  • Willingness to roll your sleeves up and have an all hands-on deck when required attitude
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to adhere strictly to set deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures

Experience:

  • Accounting: 7-10 years of progressive experience
  • Supervisory: 3-5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance Department
