The Opportunity: Chief Financial Officer

Reporting the CEO and situated at their downtown New Westminster head office, the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) is a member of the CLS Senior Management Team and is responsible for the overall financial management, planning, and oversight of all finance, risk, and accounting services in accordance with established policies, procedures, and legislative requirements for CLS, as well as serving as CFO for the Community Living Housing Society (“CLHS”), the non-profit housing development entity managed by the CLS. With an annual budget of $30M across 300 programs, 80 unique contracts and over 50 properties, the CFO is responsible for functions which impact the organization’s financial health and systems.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA designation (in good standing) and/or an equivalent education and experience;
  • Five years of progressive experience in a leadership position in a comparably complex organization with responsibility for financial management and strategy;
  • Familiarity, and ideally expertise, with IT systems, modernizations and associated financial planning;
  • Experience working within a not-for-profit environment and / or serving on a NFP Board is an asset;
  • Experience with professional and leadership development of staff, including performance management; the number of staff directly reporting to the CFO are three directly and four indirectly;
  • Demonstrated skills in strategically managing relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders;
