Role Details: 

  • Role: Senior Accountant
  • Reporting to: CEO
  • Position: Permanent, Full time
  • Location: Flexible to work from home and downtown Calgary office
  • Direct Reports: None
  • Compensation: Base salary, health and dental benefits, vacation, options plan
  • Start Date: Immediate

Key Functions

Responsible for all Financial and Managerial accounting functions including:

  • Lead implementation of policies and procedures to improve the accounting systems, information flows and practices, including international sales growth and startup of fabrication facility
  • Provide constructive business advice to improve the efficiency and profitability of the company and its management information systems
  • Support implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) system

Financial Accounting

  • Responsible for creation, administration and maintenance of all financial systems and records including:
    • Sales and Receivables
      • Creation and submission of invoices to clients
      • Monitoring and managing accounts receivables
    • Expenses and Payables
      • Tracking purchase orders and matching to invoices
      • Ensuring review and approvals of all payments
      • Monitoring and managing accounts payables
    • Cash Flow - Monitor, manage and report on a timely basis
      • Timely cash flow information is a high priority of management
    • Payroll Systems - Preparation and Processing
    • General Ledger and Financial Records – Preparation and Maintenance
    • Financial Statements – Preparation and meaningful representations to management on a timely basis to ensure management is continuously aware of all important financial information
  • Regulatory Information - Responsible for all financial government regulatory reporting                       

Management Accounting

  • Lead creation of an effective management information system
    • Responsible for Job cost data collection and reporting on a WIP and unit basis
    • Investigate and maintain inventory quantities and usage data
    • Reconcile production/cost data with financial information

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CMA, CGA, CPA required)
  • 5 - 7 years accounting experience in management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation and providing financial advice
  • Strong computer knowledge using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with ERP and budgeting software, including ERP conversions, is an asset
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting would be beneficial
  • Deadline oriented with attention to detail
  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational and time management skills while maintaining confidentiality
  • Proven problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
