PolicyWise for Children & Families is currently seeking up to three individuals from across Alberta to join our Board of Directors experienced in the fields of:
- Finance
- Legal
- Human resources
- Sectors or businesses that have incorporated new or emerging tech, such as AI
The Directors’ role is not just to set policy and strategic direction, but also to question, scrutinize, and monitor the management of the organization’s affairs. This is a governance role as opposed to operational management. Board Directors serve and are accountable to the PolicyWise Members.
New Directors will be appointed at our September Annual General Meeting. The initial term for a Board Director may be either two or three years, with the ability to renew terms up to a maximum six-year commitment.
The Board typically meets quarterly, with in-person and virtual options, for up to three hours per meeting. The in-person meetings alternate between Calgary and Edmonton. PolicyWise reimburses meeting expenses such as travel.
In addition to attending Board meetings, subcommittees (Governance; Strategic Advisory; and Finance, Investment & Audit) meet quarterly for approximately two hours virtually. Preparation for Board and committee meetings is essential and should be factored into the overall time commitment expected from Board Directors.
