Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, presenting insights to ownership.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decisions and performance evaluations, including developing key metrics and benchmarks.
  • Manage cost control, reporting, and job costing.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Lead the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
  • Manage cash flow activities across multiple projects and the overall company.
  • Mentor direct reports to enhance their roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings with regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee year-end accounting processes.
  • Review and advise on contracts.
  • Manage project-specific insurance requirements, including Course of Construction, Wrap-up liability, and subcontractor insurance.
  • Handle payroll and manage employee benefits.
  • Participate in strategic planning with the leadership team, perform due diligence, and create projections on growth opportunities.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to address financial challenges and improve processes.
  • Develop and enhance internal controls, process documentation, and compliance procedures.
  • Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and implement improvements.
  • Analyze complex financial challenges and develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee special projects related to financial system improvements.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for banking relationships, managing transactions, cash transfers, and monthly reporting.

Experience & Requirements:

  • Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) is highly beneficial.
  • Prior experience in a General Contracting or Construction Management firm is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard contract types and project management principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, particularly as they apply to construction projects.
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities under different corporate structures.
  • Technical accounting expertise with a strong understanding of job costing and cost control.
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills, including advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and financial modeling.
  • Proven mentoring, coaching, and organizational administrative skills.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams, project managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and deliver high-performance work under tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and drive efficiency in financial operations.
