Position Summary
Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of finance and accounting services including reporting, analysis, monitoring controls and performance and developing policies and procedures in accordance with applicable accounting standards, legislation, regulations, and best practices. This includes monthly/quarterly and annual reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting, developing, and enforcing policies and procedures, and supporting the Finance Reporting Manager in the achievement of the objectives and delivery of finance services. This position primarily oversees payroll and Accounts Payable process.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure the correct posting of general ledger accounts.
- Ensure a good coordination of information transmission to improve accounts management for Payroll accounting and the Balancing Unit account. 
- Support the management of the travel expenses claims.
- Assure on-time & good quality monthly (and yearly) Closings.
- Support effectively the preparation of the Statutory Books.
- Apply accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Make accounting adjustments and reconcile accounts.
- Prepare report and specific documents.
- Apply procedures and escalate issues in case of deviation from standards.
- Give interpretation and make synthesis on statements.
- Identify problematic points and propose solutions.
- On request, provide information on follow-ups of accounts.
- Deal with external sources (e.g. Payroll Provider) to resolve problems.
- Ensure a good coordination of information transmission to improve accounts management.
- Ensure the correct posting of general ledger accounts and to guarantee to respect of deadline on monthly closing.
- Transmit information to management.
- Ensure all necessary support to internal control.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and regulations activities.
- Ensure the application of all statutory, management and fiscal rules – with special attention to their evolution during the timeframe and the business changes.

- A good understanding of, maintaining awareness of and following relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, TransEd Operation rule book, standard operation procedures, health, safety and environmental requirements and instructions within own role and organization.
- Continuously monitors area of responsibility to ensure compliance with legislation and TransEd safety procedures. Overall responsibility of passengers, staff and goods to enable compliance with regulations through safe and effective rail operation.
- Maintains an awareness and follows TransEd emergency, accident/incident plan, policy and procedures.
- Constructively challenges unsafe practice at all levels and report through the necessary channels.
- Informs/alerts the control centre to any hazards which have been spotted along the route.
- Understands the risk of ill health and the impact of wellbeing on the safety of an individual, others at work and the public. Understands strategies for fatigue management e.g., sleep quality, and stress management.
- Manages own fitness to enable work to be carried out competently in order to reduce the risk to health and safety to self and all stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of requirements and process for ensuring rail safety and security on the line, at stations and depots.
- Constantly maintains a secure environment and responds to security issues and takes appropriate action in the event of a breach of a security as accordance with company safe operation procedures, policies and safe systems of work.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field combined with a CPA designation
- 3-5 years of full cycle accounting, including financial statements preparation, reporting, analysis
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy to provide effective financial analysis
