POSITION Manager, Finance and Accounting

YOUR OPPORTUNITY
KV Capital is poised for substantial growth in the coming years, and in anticipation of this exciting phase, we are seeking a Manager, Finance and Accounting to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in all finance functions of KV Capital as well as KV Mortgage Fund Inc., a Mortgage Investment Corporation, including operational accounting and budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, tax and regulatory compliance, policy and internal control development. The Manager will ensure financial controls and processes are operating efficiently and effectively while contributing fresh ideas and perspectives to the financial reporting function and finance transformation projects. We expect a high level of attention to detail, a process improvement mindset, and desire to develop professionally in a dynamic work environment. The successful candidate will be driven, collaborative, hard-working and eager to contribute to KV Capital’s growth initiative.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
- Manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, financial statements and compliance reporting for internal and external users, including management, the Board of Directors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and/ or review external quarterly and year-end financial statements for KV Capital Inc. and KV Mortgage Fund Inc., ensuring adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Lead the external audit process.
Operational Accounting, Fund Transactions & Treasury Management
- Conduct detailed reviews and approvals of full cycle accounting processes, including journal entries, general ledger account analysis, and associated internal controls.
- Prepare and/or review investor transactions for KV Mortgage Fund Inc., including subscriptions, redemptions, dividends, and trailer fees.
- Treasury management activities, including banking operations and cash flow forecasting.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and maintain financial budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans that align with firm goals, including the generation of performance reports to track progress against these plans.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all operational, banking, and regulatory requirements, including corporate tax and GST filings, banking covenants, and investor-related filings.
- Participate in corporate risk management practices, including managing risk in your area of authority.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead and own the management, optimization, and continuous improvement of our accounting system (Microsoft Business Central), ensuring it effectively supports business processes and financial reporting needs.
- Lead and contribute to finance transformation projects focused on technological advancements, system implementations, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen financial controls, in close collaboration with KV’s Operations Excellence team.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership and mentorship to finance team members including support through CPA program as well as fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and high performance.
YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 4+ years of increasing experience in Finance and Accounting functions including relevant experience in a public practice accounting firm.
- Experience in financial reporting, controls, and compliance, with a deep understanding of financial statements, disclosures, and complex transactions.
- Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing and developing a team.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop financial analysis and reporting efficiently and accurately.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, and controls.
- A strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Proven ability to act independently, within multi-disciplinary teams, and under time constraints.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues and potential operational efficiencies and taking ownership to resolve.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, with a demonstrated expertise in Excel.
