As a Senior Staff Accountant at Raymond & Co., you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients' financial needs and ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a background in public practice, where you can lead, mentor, and collaborate with a team of talented individuals while furthering your career in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, building strong relationships and understanding their unique financial needs.

Bookeeping: Provide full bookkeeping services and support to clients using accounting software package (Quickbooks or Sage 50)

Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare year-end Compilation and Review engagements (financial statements, corporate tax returns, supporting working papers, etc.), including engagements that involve investment accounting (i.e. clients have investment portfolios).

Taxation Support: Prepare government remittances and other filings; GST, T-Slips, payroll source deductions, etc. Prepare trust, corporate, and personal tax returns

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficient workflows and best practices within the accounting department.

Leadership: Help develop the skills of more junior staff members by acting as mentor and providing training.

Cost Control: Exercise judgment such as recognizing the need to seek consultation and guidance from others in the Firm. Take responsibility for budget and recovery of time on jobs and assignments, including proactive time control on jobs with managers and practitioner

Professional Development - Demonstrate the desire, enthusiasm and commitment to advance his/her professional career with the Firm through education, training and skills development

Qualifications:

  • CPA Certification, or equivalent, with minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Accounting Diploma or certificate in accounting
  • Proven experience in public accounting or similar role
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks, Sage 50, Caseware, Caseview, Tax Prep, Excel and Word
  • Strong bookkeeping skills
  • Ability to work extra hours during tax season and at month-end (if necessary)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
