Opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Director and as an integral member of the Financial Budgeting and Reporting team, the Manager, Budget and Financial Reporting is responsible for providing budget preparation and reporting, analytical and advisory financial support to assist in operational decision making in alignment with CapitalCare’s strategic plan, including overseeing internal and external financial reporting requirements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Performing analysis on financial and statistical data, providing advice, support and information for decision making;
- Assist with the accounting and reporting functions
- Planning, delivering, and evaluating financial and budgeting information for operational areas;
- Developing, maintaining, and monitoring departmental budgets;
- Developing and maintaining financial policies and procedures and ensuring staff are informed and supported in understanding policies;
- Support quarterly review and annual audit process
- Building positive relationships with operational Site Directors and Managers;
- Leading, training, and mentoring staff, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information;
- Performing ad-hoc analysis where required to assist in management decision making;
- Participate in designing, implementation and maintaining of internal controls; and
- Fostering a positive work culture through leadership and effectively managing a high performing team environment.
- Works closely and liaises with Alberta Health Services (AHS). Ensures a positive working relationship by providing timely accounting and financial expertise.
The Person
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business commerce/administration/management, finance, accounting, or a related discipline is required. Chartered Professional Accounting designation (CPA) is required.
- In-depth experience in accounting with progressive managerial experience with budgeting and financial analysis in a not-for-profit environment.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in applying accounting principles and coordinating corporate accounting functions. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Has previous project management experience implementing new accounting system.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current legislative requirements and CICA Handbook, including relevant not-for-profit sections.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills specifically in accounting/financial management environment.
- High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to figure things out independently.
- Gathers the appropriate information or data in order to make decisions confidently.
- Highly organized and accustomed to working in a multi-tasking environment. I
- Strong knowledge of financial methodologies and practices.
- Advanced skills in the utilization of spreadsheets, databases, and accounting/financial systems.
- Experience in healthcare or the not-for-profit sector is a definite asset.
