Treasurer - Volunteer Board Position for Broad View

Do you love films and enjoy supporting arts in your community? Broad View International Film Festival (Broad View) https://broadviewfilmfest.com/  is seeking a volunteer Treasurer who has a passion for the cinema, a strong interest in the advancement of women, and embraces contributing to the Edmonton arts scene. This volunteer position starts immediately and is open to women and women-identifying individuals.

Established in December 2021, Broad View supports and promotes women directors through festival screenings, professional development, and leadership training.

Duties:

• Serve as the Broad View Treasurer and attend monthly meetings which occur on the third Wednesday of each month, usually virtually, and in the evening.
• Record and maintain the financial records for the organization and provide monthly financial reports to the board. 
• Broad View accounting tasks are predominately derived from the following activities: our annual festival (always around Remembrance Day), our professional development opportunities (March – June), and our new initiative, the Broad View Film Club.
• Generating financial reports to support final reports for grants received.
• Assisting with providing financial information to support grant applications, Canada Summer Jobs applications, GST reports, etc.
• Prepare fiscal year-end financial statements (year end March 31).
• Other financial duties as requested by the board.

The treasurer will help grow Broad View along with other members of the board. Advising on opportunities for financial growth is welcome. Broad View recently acquired its first office space in the ArtsHab Ortona out of the Ortona Armoury located on the Rossdale flats. The treasurer is welcome to use the office space as required.

Competencies

• CPA and previous experience related to finance and/or accounting or bookkeeping is required.
• Previous experience serving on a Board is considered an asset.

An exciting opportunity to join a high-functioning working board. Learn more about film appreciation, and films created by women directors. Tickets to the film festival are complimentary to board members. A knowledge of filmmaking is not necessary to fill this role.
