Controller
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Accounting, the Controller is responsible for all aspects of the accounting and reporting function for Deveraux Developments and other group entities. The Controller assists the Vice President, Finance and Accounting in providing leadership, directing key financial-related activities including budget and financial statement preparation, management reporting, cash flow monitoring, tax planning and compliance, internal controls, and operational accounting activities. The Controller will also identify and act on efficiency opportunities, issues, and solutions.
An experienced accounting professional, the Controller will lead a team of 5 (will grow to 6 in 2025) finance and accounting staff. The Controller will be an exceptional people and process leader who understands the value in mentoring their team in a high energy and fast paced atmosphere. They must possess the technical know how but also a strategic mindset and curiosity to navigate the sometimes-complex financial aspects of the construction industry.
Ideal preparation will include:
➢a CPA designation
➢8+ years of experience, with 3+ years in public accounting
➢3+ years of experience managing and developing a team.
➢excellent attention to detail
➢innate dedication to achieving and maintaining exceptional standards.
➢a solution-oriented mindset coupled with a dedication to continuous improvement.
➢adaptability and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic and swiftly evolving professional setting.
➢experience in financial project management is an asset.
➢experience in real estate or construction industries is an asset.
