Employees across the organization enjoy a competitive and extensive compensation and benefits plan with the ability to foster personal and professional growth.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>The Opportunity:</strong></p> <p>We are currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic <strong>Accountant Level 2</strong> to join our team. Based out of our Calgary downtown location, the successful candidate will be responsible for general accounting duties including journal entries, reconciliations, assistance with financial and management reporting, accruals, support to the Assistant Controller, and other accounting and administrative duties as required. The position reports directly to the Controller and will also provide support to members of the Finance team.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with accurate documentation.</li> <li>Prepare and review month-end accruals, journal entries, and tax-related records for approval.</li> <li>Manage capital asset sub-ledgers and provide project reporting to stakeholders.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial systems, and tax regulations, proposing updates where necessary.</li> <li>Maintain knowledge of enterprise software systems and contracts, ensuring compliance in financial reporting.</li> <li>Assist with audit documentation, regulatory reporting, and act as a back-up to the Assistant Controller when needed.</li> <li>Maintain documentation, determine tax classifications, and prepare entries into Enterprise capital asset subledgers.</li> <li>Regularly assess and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial controls.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills and Tasks:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Accountable for accurate interpretation and recording of financial information.</li> <li>Adheres to all the enterprise’s controls, processes and practices, regulations, and standards.</li> <li>Promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables.</li> <li>Communicates honestly, openly, and authentically in a timely fashion and in a way that the recipient understands the why behind the words.</li> <li>Displays an ongoing commitment to learning and self-improvement.</li> <li>Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Required Experience, Education, and Designations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Financial accounting degree or diploma.</li> <li>CPA designation or currently enrolled in a CPA program and completed year 1 at minimum.</li> <li>3 -5 years experience using accounting software (<strong>SAGE</strong>) including ERP systems.</li> <li>Understands multi-company corporate structures and intercompany transactions.</li> <li>Familiar with accounting for multi-currency transactions is considered an asset.</li> <li>Demonstrated operational experience with full-cycle accounting.</li> <li>Rail or logistics experience is considered an asset.</li> </ul> <p> </p>
