As an Advisor, Corporate Finance you will be an integral part of the operations within Treasury at The City. The incumbent will be a key development and operational contact for reporting to internal and external sources and ensuring consistency of information presented to all interested parties. You will utilize your finance and systems knowledge to recommend and implement solutions to complex operational matters. Primary duties include:

  • Contribute to the processes and systems development and long-term management of The City's sustainable financing program, including The City's sustainable bond framework.
  • Liaise with finance partners, business units, subsidiaries, civic and external partners to help manage and shape other public disclosure on debt, such as working papers, annual financial reports, budget documents and sustainability reports.
  • Monitor, identify and analyze tends related to debt operations and reporting activities, to support execution and planning. Work closely with other teams in Treasury to ensure reporting and tracking of other debt management activities.
  • Develop, promote and enforce policies and procedures to govern debt management activities. 
  • Coordinate, administer and assess the information from Debenture Management Systems and Treasury Management System. Utilize systems and technology to transfer data across platforms.
  • Conduct research and analysis on capital markets and transactions precedent to inform The City's capital advisory and debt structuring process within Treasury.
  • Support tasks related to debt management operations, including billing, accounting entries, bylaw processes.
  • Support the Corporate Financial Reporting and bylaw requirements for internal partners and Council.
  • Support the Investment teams internal processes and other ad-hoc analysis or requests.

 

Qualifications 

  • A degree in Finance or Accounting accompanied by a professional designation such as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), or a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and at least 5 years of related experience OR; 
  • A Master of Business Administration and at least 3 years of related experience. 
  • Previous experience in and working knowledge of financial reporting is required.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial and Treasury Management Systems will be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong financial, analytical, and computer skills in PowerPoint and Excel; effective communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work as a part of a team.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $45.53 - 60.86 per hour (2024 Rates)

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day 

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
