Who You Are 

They are seeking a hands-on Senior Bilingual Accountant with a strong technical background, capable of leading by example in a dynamic and growing environment. You will engage in a wide array of accounting tasks, from assurance work to tax advisory services. This office-based role in Edmonton, AB, will allow you to make a significant impact on the firm and grow your clientele. Travel within Western Canada is required for approximately 15% of the year intermittently.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Documentation and Analysis: Lead the preparation, review, and management of review and compilation working paper files, including full financial statements.
  • Audit Engagements: Lead and support external audit processes to ensure compliance, accuracy, and adherence to industry standards.
  • Tax Preparation: Manage and supervise personal and corporate income tax filings, leveraging advanced tax preparation software to optimize results.
  • Client Advisory Services: Develop tailored accounting solutions for a diverse clientele, offering strategic advice and value-added services to support client growth.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and training to junior staff, fostering their development and ensuring the high quality of work across the team.
  • Operational Support and Process Improvement: Actively contribute to firm-wide initiatives, streamlining internal processes and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Business Development: Support firm growth by identifying new business opportunities, maintaining client relationships, and representing the firm in professional networks.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in both French and English.
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting practice, including significant experience in audit, tax, and advisory roles.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Taxprep, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Caseware, and other accounting software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel for up to 15% per year within Western Canada.
  • Hands-on and technical expertise is essential, even at a senior level.

  • Salary: $85,000 to $100,000 per year (based on experience).
