Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Position Overview:
As the CFO, you will be a key strategic partner, providing financial oversight and leadership for the organization and leading a finance and administration team of seven. In this multi-faceted position, you will ensure the integrity of our financial position and systems while guiding our growth trajectory through mergers, acquisitions, and by architecting the management of capital and multiple entities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the sustainable growth of the company with diverse business interests at the same time as owning all aspects of financial management for the organization. You will be at the forefront of our expansion, working with a talented and dedicated team and making impactful decisions that shape our future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a finance team, fostering a culture of performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee financial analysis, reporting and systems and ensure robust and accurate financial reporting and analysis, establish effective controls and asset protection, and utilize analysis to support informed decision making
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to implement strategic and operational objectives.
- Oversee management of cashflow, working capital and optimize the company’s capital structure to support growth initiatives
- Manage relationships with investors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Identify, assess and manage financial, market, regulatory and operational risks and ensure compliance with tax laws and optimize the company’s tax position
- Drive ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) initiatives within financial practices.
- Lead continuous improvement and optimization of our financial processes and ERP systems
- Collaborate with the management team to set strategic priorities and develop initiatives aligned with strategic growth and business objectives
- Develop relationships inside and outside of the organization to support the strategic plan and optimize service delivery
- Communicate financial performance and strategy to a variety of stakeholders, including the board, investors, leaders and employees.
- Act as the primary point of contact for financial matters with external auditors and regulators.
- Advise the CEO, partners and board of directors on governance matters, including reporting, compliance, and decision-making.
- Evaluate and execute mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions to enhance the company’s market position and positive reputation
Education and Experience:
- CPA designation
- 10-15 years of relevant experience with a blend of public accounting and industry experience, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
- Track record with growth and scaling businesses and managing multiple entities
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions considered an asset
- Experience in implementing and working with ERP systems; familiarity with Discovery Solutions is considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills with a positive attitude, humility, accountability and a commitment to team success.
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to connect with multiple stakeholders internally and externally
- Excellent data mining and analysis capabilities.
- Proficiency in database and accounting computer applications systems, including Excel and PowerPoint.
